We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacy Manager to lead and oversee daily operations at our community pharmacy. The role involves ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of NHS and private pharmacy services, managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering exceptional patient care.

The Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for hypertension services (blood pressure checks & ABPM monitoring), vaccinations (flu, COVID-19, travel vaccines), minor ailments services, and ordering repeat prescriptions from GP surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:

Pharmacy Operations & Compliance:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
  • Ensure full compliance with GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council) standards, NHS regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all services, including NHS claims and private consultations.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards.

Patient-Focused Services & Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide hypertension services, including blood pressure checks and 24-hour ABPM (ambulatory blood pressure monitoring), offering patient education and referrals where necessary.
  • Administer vaccinations, including flu, COVID-19, and travel vaccines, ensuring proper patient consultation and safety protocols.
  • Deliver the minor ailments service, offering advice and treatment for conditions such as colds, sore throats, and infections.
  • Support and promote NHS & private services, increasing patient awareness and engagement.

Prescription & Medicines Management:

  • Process and dispense prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
  • Oversee ordering and stock management of medicines, ensuring optimal levels and reducing waste.
  • Order repeat prescriptions from GP surgeries, ensuring timely dispensing and minimizing patient waiting times.
  • Provide medicine use reviews (MURs) and New Medicine Services (NMS) where applicable.

Team Leadership & Staff Development:

  • Lead, train, and motivate pharmacy staff, ensuring high standards of service and performance.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure staff compliance with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Conduct staff appraisals, identifying training needs and development opportunities.

Customer Service & Community Engagement:

  • Deliver exceptional patient care, building strong relationships with customers and the local community.
  • Provide expert advice on medications, health conditions, and lifestyle improvements.
  • Collaborate with local GP surgeries, care homes, and healthcare providers to strengthen service integration.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in community pharmacy management or a similar role.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and experience delivering hypertension, vaccination, and minor ailments services.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high professional standards.
  • Accreditation in vaccination services (or willingness to complete training).
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software systems for dispensing and stock management.
